In order to development of renewable energies power plants in Iran, the first 7MW solar power plant in Abhar county, Zanjan province has been connected to the grid, according to Bargh News.

The plant, established on a 14-hectares area at a total cost of €6.5 million within 4 months, has been designed and built by Iranian experts.

After completing of this plant, Zanjan province is 27th province in Iran in which large-scale photovoltaic power plant has been constructed.

Producing more than 11GWh electric energy, this plant will conserve fossil fuel by amount of 3.95 million cubic meter. In addition, it conserves 3 million liters of water and also prevents of emission of 9598 tons of greenhouse gases.

The project investor stated: “This project has created 100 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs during plant construction. Also 10 people will be working in plant after commissioning”.

According to Bargh News report, currently there are 24 operational small-scale roof-top photovoltaic plants in Zanjan Province.
